"Everything is Working out for me "

Affirmations

Too often people tell me that they've used affirmations but they don't work. I then ask them what their affirmations are and I soon discover that they're reciting a statement which they read in a book. Or they've used software and tapes that supposedly send subliminal affirmations to their subconscious mind -- which had little or no effect.

There are a few problems you'll run into when working with affirmations from a book, tape or software. They are simply too long which makes them ineffective.

Here's an example. I think Joseph Murphy wrote a terrific book when he penned "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind." He talked about the power of affirmations. But quite frankly his affirmations are too long. Here's an example of one of his affirmations:
"I am one with the infinite riches of my subconscious mind. It is my right to be rich, happy, and successful. I am forever conscious of my true worth. I give of my talents freely, and I am wonderfully blessed financially. It is wonderful."
This is a great affirmation if you can remember it and if you speak that way. 99% of us don't think or speak this way -- and that's what makes any of his affirmations ineffective. In fact, no book can give you an affirmation. You have to create your own!
The main problem with subliminal affirmations, taped affirmations and affirmations from a book is that they are not created by you or for you. They may have a short term effect but you are not creating them and won't be able to remember them. If the affirmations are not created by you they will have little or no effect.

The most powerful affirmations have to come from you and your mind. Your subconscious mind knows the language of your mind. It understand how you think and speak.

So to get the most out of affirmations you have to create them yourself. Then you have to understand how to use them properly. Most people don't know how to do this and end up creating affirmations that will never help them get what they want out of life.

Keep your affirmations short and simple. If they're too long you'll forget them and then you'll forget to say them, and then you'll say they don't work. Well, they won't work if you never say them.

Make sure your affirmations are positive and focus on what you want, not on what you don't want. An affirmation that says: "I don't want to struggle" is an example of an affirmation that focuses on what you don't want. You'll only get more of what you don't want if you keep repeating it. So change the affirmation to reflect what you do want.

Keep it simple. Don't make the affirmations to complicated. Your affirmation should only focus on one thing and should really be just a sentence long.

If you haven't had success with affirmations then they're probably not well targeted, and are not well formated. Make some changes. Keep them fresh and keep them positive.

Recording your affirmations and playing them back also helps. You can also write out affirmations. But to get the best results you should repeat your affirmations to yourself as often as you can.

When you repeat your affirmations you get your mind and subconscious mind to focus on the positive statement. That also helps you eliminate the negative thinking.

Keep going even if you're not seeing results. Affirmations can take a long time to have an impact and if you want real changes you should work with a number of other techniques.
